May 15 [12:00 EST] -- All that sassiness will pay off next week when the Spice Girls will appear at the top of the "Billboard" album chart.
The British pop dance outfit and its debut "Spice" will leap past this week's number one and two (George Strait and Mary J. Blige respectively) to land in the number one spot when the magazine hits newsstands on Monday.
News of the act's chart-topping album comes just days after it was reported that Columbia Pictures will release "Spice -- The Movie" at Christmastime of this year.
It's a big week for the Girls, as they will also have two singles in the top 20 of "Billboard's" Hot 100 singles chart. The group will chart with "Say You'll Be There" at number five, and "Wannabe" holding on at number 20.
Elsewhere on next week's singles chart, pop reigns supreme as Hanson's "Mmmbop" finally climbs into the top spot, passing Notorious B.I.G.'s "Hypnotize." Maybe now the Hanson boys will have that giant party that they told
MTV News they would throw if they hit number one (see "Hanson Talk About Celebrating Chart-Topping Single" from May 14).
