NEWS FLASH: Geri Halliwell Quits Spice Girls

Geri Halliwell, known to millions of fans as "Ginger" Spice, officially quit the Spice Girls in London on Sunday morning citing unspecified "differences" with the other four members.

"I'm sure the group will continue to be successful, and I wish them all the best," Halliwell said in a statement read by lawyers. "P.S.," she added, "I'll be back."

The remaining Spice Girls -- Posh, Sporty, Scary and Baby -- said in a statement that they were "upset and saddened," but vowed to soldier on as a quartet. "The Spice Girls are here to stay -- see you in the stadiums, friendship never ends."

Halliwell had missed two concerts last week (see "Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell Bows Out..."), claiming "tummy trouble." There was no comment on earlier reports that Halliwell and her group had a very public argument with her group-mates last week in an airport in Helsinki, Finland.

The Ginger-less Spice Girls debut as a quartet
