Moby, Macy Gray To Perform For Rock The Vote Awards

Electronica guru Moby and R&B siren Macy Gray have signed on to perform at Rock The Vote's Seventh Annual Patrick Lippert Awards, scheduled for February 22 at the House of Blues in Los Angeles.

Recipients for this year's Patrick Lippert Awards, named in honor of Rock The Vote's first executive director, are expected to be announced in the next few days. RIAA CEO Hillary Rosen will be presented with the Founder's Awards for her continuing support of Rock The Vote.

In addition to the awards, the MTV-sponsored event will also mark the 10th anniversary of Rock The Vote, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting freedom of expression, youth enfranchisement, and encouraging young people to get involved in their local communities.

Last year, Beck and Stevie Wonder presented Rock The Vote Awards to Neil Young and Wyclef Jean, respectively, while Jean took to the stage to perform several songs with Wonder and Parliament-Funkadelic's George Clinton (see "Wyclef Jean, Neil Young, Beck, Stevie Wonder, George Clinton Celebrate 1999 Rock The Vote! Awards").

First lady Hillary Clinton, who is currently campaigning for the Senate in New York, was also presented with the first Rock The Nation award for her political work and social activism.

Other previous winners of the Rock The Vote Award include the Beastie Boys, Sheryl Crow, Public Enemy's Chuck D, Hootie & The Blowfish, L.L. Cool J, Queen Latifah, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Salt-N-Pepa, and Steve Young & The NFL Quarterback Club.
