Gomez Maps Out North American Tour, Will Jam At SXSW

Even though it's still a few weeks until Y2K, the acclaimed British group Gomez is wasting no time in mapping out tour plans for well into the next year, as the band has just announced a series of North American dates for next February and March.

Gomez already has a pair of eclectically brilliant albums to its credit, 1998's "Bring It On" (which won the 1998 Mercury Music Prize) and this year's "Liquid Skin," and has drawn raves for its free form, alt. jam shows. The band also made an audio appearance in the Kevin Spacey film "American Beauty."

As part of next year's U.S. run, Gomez will hook up with Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals for a one-off gig on February 26 at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles. Gomez will also bring its brand of psychedelic swamp rock to the South By Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas on March 16.
