After scoring a pair of hit singles with “Pony” and a cover of Prince’s “When Doves Cry” from his 1996 debut, R&B singer Ginuwine is now wrapping up work on his second album, “100% Ginuwine,” which he plans to release in February 1999.
Re-teaming with Ginuwine for the much of the new record is Timbaland, who also produced the majority of tracks on the vocalist’s debut. But as Ginuwine told the MTV Radio Network, he and Timbaland plan to unveil a new R&B sound on “100% Ginuwine.”
“A lot of people bit into Timbaland’s sounds,” Ginuwine said, “so we gotta go in the studio and do something different. We gotta change the R&B world once more. So that’s what we’re looking for and that’s what we’re gonna do.”
“100%” also features appearances from Missy Elliott and Aaliyah, and Ginuwine will issue the first single from the record in January. In the meantime, Ginuwine can next be heard on a song called “Keep It Real,” from Timbaland’s solo debut, “Tim’s Bio: Life from Da Bassment,”
due out on November 24.
