U2 To Team With Fun Lovin' Criminals For Tour

April 16 [7:55 EST] -- The Fun Lovin' Criminals will assume the opening slot on the upcoming U2 tour after Rage Against The Machine gets its turn at bat. ["Zoo Station" Live, 2MB QuickTime]

Rage will open the first nine shows of the tour, which (in case you haven't heard yet) kicks off on April 25 in Las Vegas, and the Criminals will step into the lead-off spot for five shows beginning on May 19 in Kansas City.

The opening slot has to be a dream gig for Fun Lovin' Criminals, who recently scored a breakthrough hit with "Scooby Snacks" off of the band's "Come Find Yourself" album. The folks at U2's label, Island Records, report that so far the tour has sold 1.5 million tickets, which should go a long way towards boosting the Criminals' exposure.
