Pras titled his hit single, album, and book "Ghetto Superstar" -- and now Pras is in Toronto filming the movie by the same name with rapper Ja Rule. For the film, Pras plays Diamond, a naturally gifted musician who struggles to make his way in the hip-hop scene, but is drawn into the seedy underworld by his friend Gage, portrayed by Ja Rule. When MTV caught up with Pras and Ja Rule on the set of "Ghetto Superstar," Ja remained modest about his acting chops, while Pras exuded the acting confidence of, well, a superstar. "You gotta know how to act," Pras said. "We're doing it, the truth be told, and a lot of people can't do it. You know what I mean? You got to be able to know how to act [to do film]. Just cause you can perform [on stage], that doesn't mean that you're going to be able to get up [on a movie set] and just start acting." [RealVideo] "I
didn't really know what to expect comin' on the set,"Ja admitted, "but everybody's giving me a lot of support and helping me along. And, you know, I'm doing what I need to do and I hope I'm doing a good job." [RealVideo] Ghetto Superstar won't be in cinemas until next spring, but you can catch Pras playing an evil, polyester-wearing disco denizen in the upcoming super-hero flick, "Mystery Men," which also stars Ben Stiller and Janeane Garofalo. "Mystery Men" opens in theaters on July 30.
