Young songstress Mya is preparing to release the follow-up to her double-platinum debut.
The 20-year-old singer is currently holed up in the studio with several different producers, including Wyclef Jean, She’kspere, Swizz Beatz, Knobody, Tricky Stewart, and Robin Thicke.
A number of guest vocalists have been enlisted for the project, including TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, Jordan Knight, and Beenie Man. The as-yet-untitled album is scheduled to drop at the end of February 2000.
Mya’s self-titled 1998 album scored two gold singles, “It’s All About Me” and “My First Night With You.” She has also garnered attention for her vocal performances on the Pras hit “Ghetto Supastar” and Blackstreet’s “Take Me There.”
In other Mya news, the singer, along with Eve, Missy Elliott, Aaliyah, Monica, and more, can be found in the pages of The Women Of Music 2000 calendar, which benefits several charities (see “Wyclef, Eve, Dre, T-Boz
Pose For Charity Hip-Hop Calendars” ).
