Fu Manchu To Pump "King" On Sevendust Tour

The So Cal fuzz groove masters of Fu Manchu appear to be living up to the "King Of The Road" title they've affixed to their new album.

After tackling the opening slot on Anthrax's recent U.S. tour (which wrapped up over the weekend), the band now plans to do the same for Sevendust when that group hits the road with P.O.D. for two weeks worth of dates beginning on March 3.

The band also plans to play this year's South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas next month and hopes to land another high-profile tour or perhaps headline its own outing after that.

All the roadwork comes as Fu Manchu unleashes "King Of The Road" on record stores this week, bringing with it a sound that bakes the 8-track era dashboard rock of Foghat under the California sun. The release marks the band's second full-length for Mammoth Records and delivers ten fuzzed-out rock odes to custom vans, Camaros, and Jeff Spicoli of "Fast Times At Ridgemont High," plus a cover of Devo's "Freedom

Of Choice."

In case the band misses any cities on its tour schedule, Fu Manchu is making the rounds vicariously through a 30-minute "cable access" show airing in select markets across the U.S. Described as decidedly low-fi by spokespeople at Mammoth Records, the program began airing in Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit, and Austin last week and will air again in those cities this week.
