Paying homage to their respective rise from obscurity to the upper realms of the rock and alt. rock charts, Shawn Mullins and the Flys have agreed to headline a Spring Break concert being sponsored in conjunction with the "Bandemonium" unsigned band contest. The Flys, who have appeared at several of "Bandemonium's" regional competitions, are set to perform on March 17 at Spinnaker's in Panama City Beach, Florida, and Mullins will deliver his set the following night at the same location. Over 350 bands have submitted entries in the "Bandemonium" contest, which has been narrowed down to groups over the last two months. The two as-yet-undetermined finalists, chosen by a panel of judges from then 10 remaining, will then travel to Panama City Beach to compete for the grand prize. As part of the finals, both unsigned groups will perform opening sets for the Flys, with the winning act returning the next night to open for Mullins. The band selected as the "Bandemonium" grand
prize winner will also receive cash, musical gear and studio time with producer Jim Wirt, who handled Incubus' major-label debut for Epic Records.
