The Flys Prep Album And Tour

With a new album on the way and Beach Boy mastermind Brian Wilson’s blessing, the Flys will kick off a U.S. tour Thursday night on their So Cal home turf.

The band, last seen rocking out on the edge of a cliff in the video for their hit “Got You (Where I Want You),” will deliver “Outta My Way” to stores next week.

Frontman Adam Paskowitz notes that the band’s sophomore offering is “about a true surfer’s lifestyle,” and fittingly the band pulled samples from the Beach Boys benchmark album “Pet Sounds” for two of the album’s tracks. With the permission of Wilson, the band slipped snippets of the Beach Boys’ “Here Today” into “Outta My Way” and “Caroline, No” into “No Sad Story.”

In addition to Wilson’s A.O.K., the band is also brandishing a slightly different lineup this time around. Paskowitz’ brother and co-vocalist, Joshua, left the band recently along with drummer Nicky Lucero. For the tour, the band will be backed by drummer Jack Holder (see “The Flys Return With New Album, Lineup” ).
