Dance-music icon Fatboy Slim's third album, "Halfway Between The Gutter And The Stars," will be released November 7 in the U.S. on Astralwerks Records, according to a spokesperson at the label.
The album's first single, "Sunset (Bird Of Prey)," which features a vocal sample of legendary Doors frontman Jim Morrison, will be released on October 16 in the U.K.; its U.S. release date is not yet confirmed. The second single is likely to be "Demons," one of two songs on the album to feature vocals by Macy Gray (see "Fatboy Slim Records With Macy Gray").
The 37-year-old DJ (born Norman Cook) recorded the album over the last year in his home studio in Brighton, England, which he dubbed "The House Of Love."
His second album, 1998's "You've Come A Long Way, Baby," achieved platinum status in the States, powered by the international success of the hit singles "The Rockafeller Skank"
and "Praise You." The video for the latter earned three MTV Video Music Awards in 1999.
A number of compilations and mix-CDs have been released under Fatboy Slim's name in the past year, some with his permission and some without. "Essential Selection Vol. 1," the recent split mix-CD he recorded with U.K. club legend Paul Oakenfold, came out in May; "On The Floor At The Boutique," a high-energy mix founded on Brighton's Big Beat Boutique club night, was released in March.
