Perry Farrell Signs Solo Deal; Preps Jane's/Porno Best Of

Having staged a one-off reunion with Jane's Addiction and broken up Porno For Pyros in the past few years, Perry Farrell is preparing to launch the next phase of his career.

The singer has just signed to Virgin Records, and his debut album, "The Diamond Jubilee," is scheduled for release in the spring of next year.

After disbanding Porno For Pyros in February of 1998, Farrell began recording tracks for a mysterious musical project to be called Gobalee; he later decided to forgo the use of a band name and record as a solo artist (see "Perry Farrell Settles Into Fatherhood, Taps Rage's Tom Morello, Chili Pepper's John Frusciante For Solo Album").

In related news, November 9 will see the release of Perry Farrell's "Rev," on Warner Brothers Records, the label that Farrell had called home since the late '80s. "Rev," a Jane's Addiction/Porno For Pyros best-of, includes hits and rare tracks from each band, including

Jane's covers of Lou Reed's "Satellite Of Love" and the Grateful Dead's "Ripple," as well as Porno For Pyros' "Hard Charger" from the 1997 "Howard Stern: Private Parts" soundtrack.

The compilation will also include two new solo songs: a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love," featuring Red Hot Chili Pepper John Frusciante and Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, and a brand new song, "Rev."
