Perry Farrell Booked For Miami New Year's Extravaganza

Perry Farrell will be taking his new 14-piece stage show to Florida for the millennium.

A spokesperson for Wax, a nightclub in Miami's South Beach, told MTV News that Farrell and his entourage are confirmed for the club's New Year's Eve celebration along with Beastie Boys DJ Mix Master Mike and the UK's Ministry of Sound DJ Richie Malone. The event is to be staged outdoors and will include a sunrise champagne brunch on the beach.

Farrell's appearance is expected to be similar to one staged on November 4 at The Palace in Los Angeles that saw the debut of his new multi-faceted solo project, born out of a world beat-oriented group he had called Gobbelee. The performance was heavy on percussion and featured wildly clad dancers, global beats, and electronic and other sounds unheard from Farrell's previous bands, Jane's Addiction and Porno For Pyros.

None of Farrell's previous bandmates will be joining him for the Miami performance. The scheduled musicians include lead guitarist

Steve Abagon, drummer Winston Walker, bassist Bikki Johnson, background vocalist Melanie Kai Quevedo, percussionist Cyrus Aliakbari, MC Aaron Chasen, and at least a half-dozen dancers and other performers.

The singer has just signed to Virgin Records. A spokesperson for the label told MTV News that his debut solo album, "The Diamond Jubilee," will likely be released sometime in April (see "Perry Farrell Signs Solo Deal; Preps Jane's/Porno Best Of").
