Everlast Covers Neil Young For Sandler Soundtrack

Opening for such throwback-tinged artists as Lenny Kravitz and the Black Crowes has apparently put Everlast in a retro recording mood.

The former House of Pain vocalist has cut a new version of a Neil Young tune, “Only Love Can Break Your Heart,” that is scheduled to be included on the soundtrack for the upcoming Adam Sandler film “Big Daddy.”

The song, which originally appeared on Neil Young’s 1970 album “After the Gold Rush,” was also covered by the British dance pop outfit St. Etienne, who had a U.K. hit with the tune in the spring of 1990.

Everlast is scheduled to perform on “The Late Show with David Letterman” on Thursday night and will wrap up the last few dates of the Kravitz-Crowes tour this weekend.
