Playa Hopes To Follow Success Of Missy, Timbaland

Following the success of Missy Elliott, Aaliyah, Ginuwine and Timbaland & Magoo, another branch of the Blackground family tree is hoping for chart success.

The group will release its debut effort, "Cheers 2 U," on Tuesday, but fans may be familiar with the group already from its appearances on Timbaland & Magoo's "Luv 2 Luv" and "Up Jumps Da Boogie."

The band continues its Timbaland connection on "Cheers 2 U" as Timbaland lends his production talents to a couple of the album's cuts.

"It's just love," Playa's Smokey recently told the MTV Radio Network of the group's work with Timbaland. "We've all been together for so long that I know where he's coming from, he knows me. It's just a good collaboration."

The group also shares that vibe with Aaliyah, Foxy Brown, Missy Elliott, and Magoo, who also turn up on the album.
