Missy Elliott Wraps Up TV, Studio Work Before Mellow New Year's Eve

While some of hip-hop's finest will be on-stage performing when the ball drops for 2000, Missy Elliott is opting for a more mellow, close-to-home experience to ring in Y2K.

"New Years Eve, I'm gonna be in church man in Virginia with my mom," Missy said. "I think when you live to see another decade like that… to see this decade and this millennium, I rather spend it with my family." [RealAudio]

Before heading home, Missy wrapped up a bit of unfinished music business. She recently appeared with Mary J. Blige and Lauryn Hill to tape an episode of Queen Latifah's syndicated talk show, and the result should air in February. Early next year, Missy will also appear on the cover of "Essence" magazine in March.

Elliott is also currently putting the finishing touches on albums from TC, Mocha, and Nicole, who are all signed to the rapper's Goldmind record label.

As for her

plans for 2000, Missy is pondering an all-female hip-hop tour possibly featuring herself, Lil' Kim, and Mary J. Blige.
