Subversive Homage To The Ohio Players: The Donnas Hook Up With Redd Kross

After drawing critical nods for last year's release, "American Teenage Rock 'N' Roll," Palo Alto punk rockettes the Donnas plan to start recording their third album in San Francisco next month.

The Donnas have enlisted brothers Jeff and Steve McDonald of the veteran L.A. outfit Redd Kross to produce the new album, tentatively titled "The Donnas Get Skin Tight," which guitarist Donna R. told MTV News is done in "subversive homage to the Ohio Players."

Donna R. also said that she and the rest of her bandmates -- all of whom are aged either 19 or 20 and still living with their parents -- are revved-up about working with the McDonald's because "they're approaching us as fans more than as big-ass producers."

Jeff McDonald also said that he was looking forward to the upcoming sessions with the Donnas, whom he describes as "teenage pop-culture saviors."

The Donnas are hoping to have their new album out by the end of the year.
