Beth Orton Joined In Studio By Ben Harper, Dr. John

Folky trance-trip-hopster Beth Orton is currently holed up in a studio with producer Victor Van Vught, who manned the boards for her 1997 debut, “Trailer Park,” and is working on her second full-length album, tentatively titled “Inevitable” and due out in early 1999.

Ben Harper, who shares some common alt.folk roots with Orton, plays guitar and sings on the album, as does ’70s New Orleans pianist Dr. John.

Orton, who cut her teeth in the music industry by working as a studio singer for the Chemical Brothers, has also recorded several songs on the new album with Ben Watt of Everything But The Girl producing.
