Xzibit On Working With Dre For "Restless"

With a hip-hop past as vast as the state of California, Dr. Dre is further lengthening his production resume, as the good Doctor is serving as executive producer of "Restless," the forthcoming effort from his "Up In Smoke" tour mate Xzibit.

As Dre oversees production on "Restless," the project finds Xzibit teaming with Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Tha Eastsidaz, and Tha Alkaholiks, as well as Dre himself. Xzibit also will be laced with tracks from Erick Sermon, DJ Quik, and Da Rockwilder.

MTV News recently sat down with the Golden State rapper, who told us exactly how the hitmaking process goes down when the Doctor is in charge.

"Dre likes to listen to where you want to take it, where you want to go," Xzibit said. "Dre's ideas come after you've already taken it in a certain direction.

He may add something,

turn something up, and add a little bit more, take something out, but you have to take it in that direction first. He can't just sit there and give you something to do and then you do it. Sometimes it works out like that. You come up with an idea, 'Let's do it like this,' and then its quick, but then sometimes it takes three days to come up with something." [RealVideo]

"Restless" is slated to slide on to store shelves on December 12. If you can't wait to catch up with the Likwit crew cat, you can catch Xzibit on the "Anger Management" tour alongside Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, and Eminem on the following dates:
