DMX Released After Obscenity Arrest In Trinidad

Rapper DMX was on his way home Monday after spending part of the weekend in a Caribbean jail following his arrest in Trinidad on obscenity charges.

The rapper was arrested during a performance on Saturday in Port Of Spain, Trinidad, where it is illegal to swear in public. According to the Associated Press, authorities stopped the rapper's set and arrested him on the spot.

On July 3, authorities halted a Foxy Brown show in Trinidad for allegedly using obscenities, but she was never arrested or formally charged.

When asked why DMX (whose rhymes are notoriously profane) would be booked to play such a conservative locale, Def Jam COO Lyor Cohen said it was to provide Caribbean fans who missed the "Hard Knock Life" tour with a unique concert experience. He added, "We did not fully analyze the obscenity laws... it was us not doing our due diligence."

DMX is set to play Woodstock later this month and has also just landed a small role in the upcoming Jet Li action thriller

"Romeo Must Die," which is also slated to star Aaliyah. In the film, DMX will play a club owner named Silk.
