DJ Rap Gets Eclectic With Big Label Debut

Whether people are praising her comely looks or her turntable skills, Britain's DJ Rap has managed to get people talking, which is half the battle for someone about to launch a major-label debut album.

Her first effort for Columbia Records, "Learning Curve," arrives soon, and beyond the low-cut image she presents in her press photos, the turntablist is also promising a unique sound.

[article id="1442921"]"It's a whole bag of different things,"[/article] DJ Rap told MTV of the album while at this year's Winter Music Conference. [article id="1442921"]"It's an eclectic sound... everyone knows me for predominantly jungle, but my influences are also techno, trance, big beat, and I love rock. I love good old guitar, and I'm very much on the alternative tip. For me it's all these different influences put together and threaded with my voice, and for me just producing something like this was really cool, because you get to do everything you're into, be it classical,

be it techno, trance, whatever... it's in the album. There's something there for everybody." [RealVideo][/article]

DJ Rap will bring that eclectic sound directly to the people with an in-store appearance at Boston's Newbury Comics on June 1. In addition to signing autographs, DJ Rap will also take some time to spin tracks from "Learning Curve.
