We previously reported about a dance version of "My Heart Will Go On" by a British cover act (see [article id="1428123"]"Extra Titanic Soundtrack, Dance Mix On The Way"[/article]) that was being released, which is part of the reason Dion's label decided to roll out a remix.
MTV News was in the studio on Sunday with Bobby Guy and Ernie Lake, who are collectively known as Soul Solution, as they finished work on the remix [Soul Solution in the studio, 1.2MB QuickTime]. Guy and Lake gave Toni Braxton's ballad "Unbreak My Heart" a whole new life with a dance remix last year, and they also recently remixed Jody Watley's "Off The Hook."
Guy told MTV News why Dion's label decided to do the remix.
"The song was only commercially available on the soundtrack so they needed to get some album sales generated before they went and released it as a single, now that it's doing so well on radio," Guy explained.
"They need to get it out and get it out fast, so the bootlegs are hitting the streets, there's a couple of club versions, white label things and then there are actual remakes that sound very, very close to Celine."
Celine Dion is scheduled to perform on the Grammy Awards Wednesday night, in a duet with Barbra Streisand, although Streisand is reportedly battling the flu, and may not perform.
