Depeche Mode's Gahan Talks About His Drug Use

Jan. 30 [16:00 EST] -- It's been nearly four years since the veteran English synth-pop band Depeche Mode released a new album, and a large part of the reason for that delay has been singer Dave Gahan's ongoing struggle with drug addiction.

Things appear to be back on track, as the band has reconvened to record a new album, "Ultra" (due April 15), and shoot a new video for their next single, "Barrel of a Gun."

MTV News' John Norris sat down with Gahan for a frank discussion of the singer's drug-addled darker days. To hear what Gahan had to say, tune in to MTV's "Week In Rock" at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time on Friday and Saturday, or check it out at MTV News Online.

The full transcript of the Gahan interview will be this week's MTV News Online "Interview of the Week," so you can check out the stuff that didn't make it to air Friday at 6:30 p.m. E.S.T.
