De La Soul's Maseo Is A Daddy... Again

De La Soul rapper Maseo became a proud father for the fourth time last Friday, as his wife gave birth to the couple's newest child, a girl named Dayo Mason, who weighed in at 7 pounds, 10 ounces.

The arrival of the newest De La baby comes a little more than six weeks after De La Soul MC Posdnous had a baby boy, named Kasai, right before the group was to take the stage in New York City (see "De La Soul Joined By Gang Starr, Macy Gray, More").

On a less personal note, Maseo and his fellow De La Soul bandmates executive-produced the new "Hip Hop 101" compilation album, which includes "Words & Verbs," a track from Maseo featuring guest vocals from Kovas, as well as a new De La Soul song, "So Good."

De La Soul is continuing to work on its fifth album, "Artofficial Intelligence," which the rap trio is planning to issue as a hip-hop trilogy of sorts, with the first CD of the three-album set now scheduled to arrive in

September with appearances by Redman, Beastie Boys, Busta Rhymes, Xzibit, and Chaka Khan.
