Sheryl Crow, Sinead O'Connor, Joan Osborne On Board For Chieftains Album

The spirit of Lilith Fair ventures into foreign lands on a new album from Irish folksters the Chieftains, as Sheryl Crow, Sinead O'Connor and Joan Osborne, among others, have signed-up for guest appearances on the record.

Entitled "Tears of Stone," the new album from the Chieftains et al. is due out at the end of the year, and features the band backing a range of female vocalists, including Crow, Joni Mitchell, O'Connor, the Corrs and Osborne on a variety of traditional and contemporary songs.

The mixture of folk music and rock vocals is not an altogether new experience for the Chieftains, who in 1995 recorded songs with Sting, the Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, Mark Knopfler and O'Connor for the album "Long Black Veil."
