Witchy woman Stevie Nicks and the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde have been confirmed for next week's "Sheryl Crow And Friends" concert in New York City's Central Park, although David Bowie will be unable to attend, despite earlier rumors to the contrary.Nicks and Hynde will join Crow and her previously announced special guests, Eric Clapton and Sarah McLachlan, for the gig, scheduled for September 14 at the Park's East Meadow (see "Sarah McLachlan Joins 'Sheryl Crow And Friends' Lineup"). A spokesperson for the event, officially dubbed the "Sheryl Crow And Friends, Including Eric Clapton" concert, told MTV News that Hynde and Nicks would perform with Crow at the show, and that Bowie was forced to withdraw from plans to attend the gig because of scheduling conflicts. Tickets for the concert will be passed out at special American Express kiosks set up in New York City's five boroughs, and the concert will also be televised live
on the Fox Network and simulcast on various radio affiliates, as well as the Internet.Additional details about the concert, including the where and when of ticket distribution, are expected to be announced at a special press conference being held in New York City on Wednesday.
