Creed Down For Doors Tribute Album

It's been a little more than a year since Creed released its debut album, "My Own Prison," which has rather quietly produced three hit singles, sold more than 2 million copies and remains in the Top 30 after 50 weeks on the charts.

With the Tallahassee, Florida, band currently winding down the summer leg of its current tour, Creed plans to head into a studio while out on the West Coast next week to record a track for an upcoming Doors tribute album.

"We're doing a Doors song," Creed frontman Scott Stapp told MTV News, "I think we're going to be in Los Angeles next week actually, and we're doing something for a tribute album."

"And we actually get to work with some members of the Doors," added drummer Scott Phillips, "which will be killer."[28.8 RealVideo]

No word yet on when this planned Doors tribute album might be released,

as the project has been in various states of development for some time. As we previously reported (see "Smash Mouth Does The Lizard King For Tribute Album"), Smash Mouth recorded a song for the album in January of this year with Doors guitarist Robbie Krieger.

Creed will resume its tour on September 24 with a concert at the Community Theater in Sacramento, California.
