Creed's Stapp On Coping With The Road

It's not easy being one of the most popular rock bands in America; for one thing, your record label could work you like a dog and keep you plugging your hit record until you drop.

Creed isn't having any of that this time around, however. The band, whose latest release, "Human Clay," recently spent two weeks at the top of the "Billboard" album chart, decided to schedule its upcoming tour to the group's liking, giving it a week off every here and there. As singer Scott Stapp told the MTV Radio Network, the Creed guys simply need a little bit of time at home in between road trips.

"We're not going to do it like we did the last record, where we went out for nine months at one time and never came home in nine months," Stapp said. "That is kind of hard. But if we can go out three weeks at a time, take a week off in between and just stay fresh, then I think we'll want to be touring."

True to Stapp's word, the band is now enjoying a few days off before embarking on a string of

U.S. dates, which will conclude with a performance on "The Late Show With David Letterman" on November 16. After that, the group will have a few more days of rest and relaxation, head to Europe for another road trip, and return to the U.S. for a New Year's Eve gig at the Lakeland Civic Center in Lakeland, Florida.
