Sheryl Crow, Elvis Costello To Rediscover One-Hit Wonders For Benefit Show

Sheryl Crow, Elvis Costello, Tracy Bonham, Angelique Kidjo and BR5-49 are among the artists that have agreed to play a special benefit concert for the City of Hope medical center on November 4.

The event, being held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, will be hosted by actor Bill Murray and will also include performances from Stevie Nicks, John Mellencamp, James Taylor, Shawn Colvin, Don Henley and Deana Carter. Veteran studio musicians Danny Kortchmar and Steve Jordan have been tapped as the benefit's music coordinators, and will likely accompany the other artists as necessary.

Billed as an evening of "One Night of Wonders," each musician is slated to perform a song typically classified as a "one-hit wonder" based upon "Billboard's" Top 100 Singles chart. "Billboard" magazine Publisher Howard Lander and Editor-In-Chief Timothy White will be honored for their contributions to City of Hope as part of the night's festivities.

Proceeds from the show will be donated

to the City of Hope medical center located in Duarte, California, a research and treatment facility for various life-threatening diseases, including cancer and AIDS.
