Rapper Coolio has accepted an invitation from Smash Mouth to make a guest appearance on a song on the band's new album, according to Smash Mouth's management. The session should be taking place in the next week or so. Another guest is Sugar Ray's DJ Homicide, who also appears on one track.
The new album should be out sooner than later, confirms the spokesperson. The group is hard at work with producer Eric Valentine, the man at the controls for their debut effort, "Fush Yu Mang," and they're hoping to have the results released late this year, or failing that, early next year.
The band had toyed with the idea of naming the album "Rudy Road" after the street that runs in front of their rehearsal studio, but that idea has since been ditched and the project remains untitled.
Smash Mouth's current hit, "Can't Get Enough of You Baby," from the soundtrack to BASEketball will be included on the new record, as will their original song, "Come On, Come On," recorded for
a GAP commercial.
The San Jose-based band is also scheduled to be featured on a pending tribute album for Tupac Shakur due out next spring. They'll be contributing the track "Dear Mama" to the Shakur family-sanctioned project.
