Puff Daddy has set his sights on remixing the Jackson 5 nugget "I Want You Back" for an upcoming Motown Records anniversary compilation.
As we first reported last month (see "Puff Daddy To Revisit Motown"), Puffy signed on to remix a Motown classic for an album marking that label's 40th anniversary, but had not decided which track to tackle.
Now, Motown has announced that Puffy will remix "I Want You Back," which was the Jackson 5's debut single and sold more than 1.7 million copies on its way to the top of the pop chart.
The news comes on the same day that our colleagues in MTV Europe confirmed a "Billboard" report that Puffy has decided not to reschedule his previously postponed European tour. As we also reported last month (see "Puffy Postpones European Tour As Doctors Order Rest"), Puffy's doctors ordered the mogul-turned-rapper to get some rest after his taxing U.S.
tour before visiting Europe.
Now, "Billboard" cites promoter Michael Fisher as saying that, even though many of the 25 shows have sold out, they will not be rescheduled. The album, and Puffy¹s remix, will hit stores on February 17.
