Coal Chamber Drops Off "Tattoo" Tour

Less than a week before the Tattoo The Earth tour is scheduled to hit the road for the first time, Goth-minded metallers Coal Chamber have dropped off the tour to begin work on a new album.

A spokesperson for the band's record label, RoadRunner Records, confirmed that the group will spend the next few months recording their third album instead of making the rounds with Slipknot, Slayer, Sevendust, Sepultura, and the rest of the Tattoo The Earth pack.

"We were writing on the back of the bus and during soundchecks during the last tour," Coal Chamber frontman Dez Fafara explained through its RoadRunner rep. "It was coming out so well that we felt, creatively, now was the time to move forward on recording."

The band also notes that it has toured the U.S. constantly since its second album, "Chamber Music," hit stores last September, and that fans have been asking the band for new music in recent months. Consequently, Coal Chamber has decided to regroup

in a Los Angeles studio in the coming weeks to begin work on the follow-up to "Chamber Music."

As for Tattoo The Earth, the tour still has more than 20 bands on board, including (hed) pe, Nashville Pussy, downset, Puya, and The Workhorse Movement, as well as the aforementioned acts. Press reps for the trek were unavailable for comment at press time.
