May 5 [16:00 EST] -- Just because funk pioneer George Clinton is about to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, don't think you can't teach the old dog new tricks.
Clinton's classic cuts can be found dissected on "P-Funk Remixes," a CD-ROM that allows computer users to do what rap acts have been doing for years: play with Clinton's beats. The Clinton CD-ROM has hundreds of digital samples, and uses Mixman software to keep mixes and beats in synch.
While Clinton continues to step into the future, he will visit the past Tuesday night at the 12th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. For the first time, the induction will actually take place in Cleveland, Ohio at the Hall itself.
Clinton will be joined by fellow inductees the Jackson 5, Joni Mitchell, the Buffalo Springfield, the Bee Gees, The Rascals, and Crosby, Stills and Nash. MTV News will have coverage of the proceedings starting Wednesday morning at 10:50 a.m.
