Mariah Carey Gets Break In Lawsuit

May 23 [10:00 EDT] -- It seems Mariah Carey may have gotten a break in a lawsuit filed against her by Christopher Silletti, a onetime bodyguard for 70s funk star Sly Stone.

Silletti claims that Carey stole her hit song "Hero" from a song that he wrote, which Carey denies. On Wednesday, a judge in New York City reportedly fined Silletti $5,000, for failing to comply with the rules of discovery, under which one party in a suit must disclose certain data or documents to the opposing side. No comment yet on this from either the Carey or Silletti camps.
