James Brown Set To Funk Up Woodstock '99

As the minutes tick down to the official start of Woodstock 1999 this Friday, more artists are jumping on board for the festival.

The legendary James Brown has been added to the lineup, no doubt to help concertgoers get up, get into it, and get involved in the festivities.

The Emerging Artists' Stage has also added acts such as hard rockers Pound and party girl-turned-singer Bijou Phillips to an already lengthy bill of over two dozen cutting-edge artists (see "Ben Lee, Supersuckers, Other "Emerging Artists" Tapped For Woodstock").

As a special bonus, early birds to the festival grounds will see area bands playing on Thursday afternoon.

Tickets for the event (slated for this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Rome, New York) are still available through www.ticketmaster.com. Those who can't make the trip to upstate New York can still catch all the action via 60 straight hours of pay-per-view coverage.

MTV News will be

on the scene as well, providing frequent updates both on-air and online throughout the weekend. Our television coverage begins on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. (ET) with "Total Request Live," to be followed up with a special Woodstock edition of "MTV News 1515" at 7:30 p.m.
