TV, film, and recording star Brandy will soon be able to add another title to her already impressive list of credentials, as the singer has just been named the first International Spokesman for Youth by the U.S. Committee for UNICEF (the United Nations Children’s Fund).
As part of her new duties, Brandy will travel around the world to various UNICEF projects and speak about helping to improve the condition of children across the globe.
Her first function as international spokesperson will be connected with the “Trick or Treat for UNICEF” campaign, which encourages kids to raise money to aid children in lesser-developed countries while trick-or-treating during Halloween, and throughout the rest of the fall.
“When I was a little girl, I remember carrying my orange UNICEF carton with me as I went Trick-or-Treating,” Brandy said in a statement. “The idea of kids helping other kids is such a great way to introduce children to being involved in charitable causes and volunteer
work, setting them on the path to doing good for others throughout their lives.”
In 1998, UNICEF raised almost $3 million as part of its annual “Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF” campaign.
