The New Jersey rockers of Bon Jovi have scheduled a surprise club date for May 4 at Chicago's House Of Blues.
After the show was announced late Friday, a few hundred tickets were put on sale Saturday morning and sold out in a matter of a few minutes.
A spokesperson for the band's label told MTV News the date is just an impromptu warm-up performance in advance of the band's new album release, "Crush," due out June 13.
The group will be making a number of promotional appearances in addition to Jon Bon Jovi's solo appearances promoting his new movie, "U-571," which opened in theatres last week.
The group is also scheduled to play a radio station birthday bash along with the Goo Goo Dolls, Mandy Moore, and Hanson on June 4 at the Providence Civic Center, Rhode Island. The band will also perform outdoors in Rockefeller Center for a segment of "Today" airing Friday, June 16 on NBC.
Bon Jovi will also be heading back to Europe to play
the an awards show May 25 in Monte Carlo, among other overseas appearances. The official world tour gets underway July 12 in Japan, while the Europe leg begins August 5 in Finland. The group won't be launching a full-scale North American tour until later in the fall.
Meanwhile, Sporty Spice Melanie C told a British radio network last week that a duet with her and Jon Bon Jovi is in the works. However, the collaboration appears to be news to Bon Jovi. A group fan site reports that the singer himself was asked about the pending duet during a different U.K. radio interview and claimed to know nothing about it, and a label spokesperson for Bon Jovi told MTV News that they, too, are unaware of the offer.
According to the Spice Girl's publicist, Melanie has received an offer to perform with Bon Jovi on television, though nothing has been confirmed.
