Blues Traveler Bassist Died Of Drug Overdose

After two months of speculation, a New Orleans coroner has determined that Blues Traveler bassist Bobby Sheehan died in August of an accidental drug overdose.

Toxicology reports indicate that Sheehan, who was found dead at his home on August 20 (see [article id="1426245"]"Blues Traveler's Bobby Sheehan Found Dead In New Orleans"[/article]), had died as a result of taking various amounts of heroin, cocaine, and Valium, according to the Associated Press.

There was some talk at the time of Sheehan's death that the bassist may have accidentally suffocated as a result of sleep apnea, but Thursday's ruling from the coroner effectively dismissed such notions.

Despite Sheehan's death, the surviving members of Blues Traveler decided earlier this month that they would continue on as a band (see [article id="1426243"]"Blues Traveler To Stick Together"[/article]).
