With Mary J. Blige's latest album, "Mary," currently sitting at number 10 on the "Billboard" album charts, the singer is preparing to spread her artistic wings as she gears up for her first acting role.As previously reported, Blige will be co-starring with former A Tribe Called Quest rapper Q-Tip in the film that he co-wrote, "Prison Song" (see "Q-Tip Set To Star In "Prison Song" With Mary J. Blige, Fat Joe, Elvis Costello"). Blige recently spoke with the MTV Radio Network about the film. "My husband [played by Q-Tip] goes to jail for life, so it's almost like he's dead," she explained, "and then they arrest my little boy for a laser pen. It's just like every inner city ghetto story for a lot of black women and Latinos... whatever." The film is scheduled to begin shooting in October. Earlier this week, Blige was presented with "Sister 2 Sister" magazine's "You're My Sis" award, and it was also announced
that she will be receiving a Hero Award from the New York chapter of the Recording Industry Association of America (see "Mary J. Blige, Tony Bennett, Others To Be Honored At RIAA Hero Awards").
