Hip-hop stars Mary J. Blige and Lil' Kim will serve as the celebrity spokespersons for Viva Glam III, a new plum-brown shade of lipstick, the sales of which will be donated to the MAC AIDS Fund.Both performers were on hand Thursday night for a special kick-off dinner for Viva Glam III in New York City, and for the launch MAC president John Demsey presented a check for $500,000 to the United Nations to help provide relief to those with HIV or AIDS in Africa. Previous spokespeople for the MAC AIDS Fund have included drag queen RuPaul, who touted Viva Glam I, and Canadian singer k.d. lang, who served as the face of Viva Glam II. Since its inception in 1994, the MAC AIDS Fund has risen more than $14 million from the lipsticks to provide medical care to people with AIDS and HIV both in the U.S. and abroad. The Viva Glam III lipstick is expected to retail for $13.50 and will be available at fashion shops and boutiques in the next few weeks. The MAC organization
estimated that the sales of the lipstick will generate $2 million in its first year.
