Mary J. Blige Plans Summer Tour

Mary J. Blige has firmed up dates for a summer tour in support of her current album, “Mary.”

Blige is slated to launch the outing on June 10 in Los Angeles, and she currently has dates scheduled through August 27.

The tour will be sponsored by MAC Cosmetics, who are thrilled to have Ms. Blige (as well as Lil’ Kim) as spokespeople for Viva Glam III lipstick. Blige and Kim appear in print ads for Viva Glam, a new plum-brown shade of lipstick, the sales of which go to the MAC AIDS Fund.

No opening acts have been announced for the tour yet, but we’ll keep you posted.

Prior to the outing, Mary has her work cut out for her. On Thursday, the singer returns from Europe, where she has been promoting her new single, “Give Me You,” the third offering from the “Mary” LP. Upon returning to the States, Mary will shoot the video for her fourth single, “Your Child,” on April 15. She will also make her first trip to South Africa on April 26 to tend
to promotional duties there.

Mary is also set to perform “Give Me You” on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on May 11.

The hip-hop soul queen is also nearly finished her next album, tentatively titled “Mary, Volume 2.” Her label, MCA Records, has not yet set a release date.
