Wyclef Jean has announced plans for the third annual Haitian Benefit Concert, which he will stage on April 17 at the Bayfront Park Amphitheater in Miami, the same city that hosted last year's show.
Usher, Aaliyah and Timbaland will emcee the benefit, while Clef will perform along with his Refugee All-Stars. Others who have agreed to make take part in the Haitian benefit include Wyclef's fellow Fugee Pras, Mya, Eagle Eye Cherry, Next, Nas, Black Eyed Peas, Ozomatli and Destiny's Child.
In addition to the musical acts, the all-day event will also feature various food, arts, and crafts available at booths located at the venue's midway.
Proceeds from the benefit, which had its inaugural show in Haiti in 1997, will be donated to various charities supported by the Wyclef Jean Foundation, an organization that promotes social programs and aid for minority communities around the world.
The money raised by the 1998 Haitian Benefit Concert helped fund VH1's "Save the Music"
campaign and Oeuvres des petites ecoles de P. Bohnen, a non-profit Haitian arts group.
