March 13 [17:45 EST] -- While police in Los Angeles continued investigating the Sunday-morning murder of rapper the Notorious B.I.G., plans were under way for the rapper's funeral.
Biggie's body was shipped to New York City in Wednesday and received by Manhattan's Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home. The late star's manager told MTV News that the rapper's family wants a private service, but will allow fans a final farewell by driving the hearse containing his body through the streets (reportedly in his old Brooklyn stomping grounds) with his music providing amplified accompaniment. Biggie's manager declined to say exactly where or when this would take place.
New York Police say they know nothing about this.
Meanwhile, ABC's "Prime Time Live" reported on Wednesday that, at the time of his death, the Notorious B.I.G. was under investigation by the FBI because of an alleged connection to New York's Gambino organized crime family.
Biggie's people deny this allegation.
