Fat Joe Enlists Big Pun, Nas, Raekwon For Solo Album

Considering the sizable success of Big Punisher's solo debut, "Capital Punishment," Latino rapper Fat Joe is gearing up to unleash a slew of projects in the waning half of 1998, including his third album, "Don Cartagena," as well as the straight-to-video movie, "Thicker Than Water."

Joe has tapped many of his mega-star friends from the hip-hop world to appear on "Don Cartagena," which arrives in stores on September 1, including Charli Baltimore and Noreaga.

When MTV News caught up with Joe recently on the set of "Thicker Than Water," he listed the guest stars from just one of the album's 13 tracks to indicate the heavyweight caliber of "Cartagena's" guest spots.

"For [the song] 'John Blaze,'" Joe said, "it has Nas, Raekwon of the Wu-Tang, Jadakiss of the Lox, Big Pun -- my protégé. You know, [the track] is hot. [550k QuickTime]

As we previously reported (see "Fat Joe And Mack 10 Create Opportunities In Sibling Film"), "Thicker Than Water" stars Fat Joe and Mack 10 as rival gang leaders who discover that they are actually long lost brothers.

The "Thicker Than Water" video and accompanying soundtrack album are tentatively slated for release in either December 1998 or January 1999.
