Beck Video Director Hits Big Screen

May 8 [7:55 EST] -- Video auteur Steve Hanft, who has directed four clips for his friend Beck (including "Loser" and "Where It's At" [Video, MB 850k QuickTime]), is about to release his first feature film called "Kill The Moonlight."

Hanft, who also guided clips by Veruca Salt, The Cure, and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, shot the film on a mere $14,000 budget.

The film manages to tell the story of an aspiring stock-car racer named "Chance," who has many low-life adventures as he tries to fix his car in time for the big race.

"Kill The Moonlight" will open at the Sunset 5 Laemmle's in Los Angeles at midnight on June 13.

With friends in high musical places, it's no surprise that a soundtrack album will hit stores the same day the film debuts. The soundtrack will feature previously unreleased tracks from Beck, The Pussywillows, and Go To Blazes.
