November 24 [10:00 EDT] -- Music students at Staten Island's Curtis High School will have a very special guest singer with them when they appear next June 13 at New York's Lincoln Center: Paul McCartney.
The former Beatle was taping an interview Thursday with Oprah Winfrey to promote his new classical album, "Standing Stone," when he was ambushed by a bold student in the audience. The enterprising student asked McCartney if he would sing at the students' symphonic recital, and the ex-Beatle replied, "Yeah, sure. Why not?"
The students' music teacher said, "This is just terrific news for our kids," explaining that McCartney's tunes are so well written that he uses them as part of the curriculum.
