He might not be toiled with the Beastie Boys anymore, but DJ Hurricane is still rubbing some impressive elbows. The artist formerly known as the Beasties' DJ is working on his second solo album, and has managed to wrangle help from Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Faith Evans, Goodie Mob, Money Mark, Lost Boyz, and members of the Flipmode Squad and Bad Brains. Beasties' producer Mario Caldato, Jr. will also lend his talents to two tracks. On the album, Hurricane plans to revisit at least a few classics as he and Billie Joe will offer up their take on Queen's "We Will Rock You," and Faith Evans and the Lost Boyz will help out on a version of the 70s hit "To Be Real." The as-yet-untitled album is due to arrive this July courtesy of TVT Records. The album will be Hurricane's first since his solo debut "The Hurra" in 1995. Since then, he has focussed his time on producing working with Gravity Kills, 2 Skinny J's, Vallejo, and the Calhouns.
