Barenaked Ladies "Alcohol" Remixed For Next Single

The next Barenaked Ladies single will be a remix of "Alcohol," to be produced by GonsterMacher, a team know for productions with the Beastie Boys, Coolio, the Geto Boys, and the Insane Clown Posse.

Gonstermacher is former Dust Brother and "suburban dope beats" specialist Matt Dike and partner Peter Reardon. According to a spokesperson at Reprise, the single is currently only slated to be shipped to modern rock radio stations. It should be completed next week.

"Alcohol" is one of the Ladies' more humorous songs from their latest album "Stunt." The ode to booze includes the chorus "I love you more / Than I did the week before / I discovered alcohol."

The Ladies are preparing to leave this weekend for an appearance in Germany and a handful of dates in England through to the middle of the month. They'll be back in the U.S. for the Grammys February 24, where their hit "One Week" is nominated for Best Pop Performance by a Group or Duo." They make short promotional trips

to Australia and Japan the first half of March. From mid-April to early May, the band tours the U.K. with Beautiful South.

The band's publicist could not confirm net rumors that the Ladies are planning a club tour or that they're booking a number of one-off radio shows in early April as well as the summer. Also unknown is the status of Kevin Hearn, who provides keyboards, accordion, vocals and occasional guitar for the group. Hearns, who suffers from leukemia, has been recovering from a bone marrow transplant that took place last summer. He had recovered sufficiently to join the band on a few key dates late last year and has been expected to rejoin the band on the full time basis.
