Lisa Marie Presley Signs To Glen Ballard's Java

Lisa Marie Presley may be in the market for some pointers from Alanis Morissette, and if so, she's in the right neighborhood to get some. Elvis's love child has signed a record deal with Glen Ballad's Java Records.

Ballard is best known as Morissette's co-writer and producer for the massively successful "Jagged Little Pill." Lisa Marie, of course, is the daughter of Elvis and actress Pricilla Presley, is best known these days for her brief marriage to Michael Jackson. According to "USA Today," Jackson was not involved in the deal. That paper reports that Jackson had tried to land a record contract for his former wife but that nothing came of it. Ballard is well acquainted with Jackson -- he produced several tracks for the singer and co- wrote the gloved one's "Man in the Mirror.

Ballard started up Java in a partnership with Capital in September of '96. His debut signings have been Terrance Trent Darby and Brendan Lynch.

Lisa Marie, 30, recorded a video

"duet" with her late father last year for a concert commemorating the 20th anniversary of his death. David Foster produced the spliced performances. She also contributed to a track on Janet Jackson's "The Velvet Rope.

Presley is scheduled to begin recording next January.
